Hello, my name is Sierra Smith and I am the new Youth Transition Specialist at Independence, Inc. here in Minot. I started working here in January and jumped right into schools on my first day. I am not sure who I enjoy working with more, my students or my coworkers!
I grew up on a ranch outside of the very small town of Sherwood, ND. After high school I attended college at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation and Human Services in 3.5 years. I did part of my summer internship with Independence, Inc., and when I heard they had an open position, I applied right away!
In my free time, I enjoy going up to my farm and doing a little bit of everything. I also enjoy watching and playing sports, playing with my nieces and nephews, and watching The Office.
I am very grateful Independence, Inc. took a chance on a girl fresh out of college. I have already learned so much and look forward to everything to come!
