Shovel for Independence

Winter is here and North Dakota is experiencing our first significant snowfall! At Independence, Inc., Center for Independent Living, we often hear stories of individuals with disabilities unable to travel to their destination due to snow covered walking routes. This limits independence and confines people to their homes.

The city of Minot snow removal ordinance requires that all snow be removed from sidewalks, alleys, curb cuts, ramps, intersections and parking spaces within 24 hours of a winter weather event. Removing snow ensures the Magic City remains safe and accessible for everyone year-round. We ask local business and residents to help make our community a better place to live, work and play this winter, by removing snow in accordance with the city ordinance.
