About the Event
Independence, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to empowering people with disabilities will partner with the North Dakota Space Grant Consortium to deliver an out of this world experiential learning opportunity for high school students with disabilities. The experience will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 1:30-3:00 P.M. through the video-conferencing platform, Zoom. Students will explore careers in aerospace and atmospheric sciences while participating in engaging STEM activities that focus on meteorology, aviation and space.
Participants will receive an activity kit delivered directly to their homes. Pre-registration is required as class space and supplies are limited. The experience is free and available to high school students with disabilities throughout the Independence, Inc. service region. - Eligibility: Must identify as a high school student with a disability (physical disability, mental health condition, substance abuse disorder, chronic illness, degenerative disease, learning or cognitive disability, cancer, phobia, or brain injury).
- Must reside within our 11 county service area (Bottineau, Burke, Divide, McHenry, McKenzie, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville, Rolette, Ward, and Williams).
