Independence, Inc. would like to invite all youth, with and without disabilities, to join the YADA Improv group.
Improvisational theater or “improv” is a form of theater,
mostly comedy, where most or all of what is performed is unplanned or
unscripted. This would call on students to, appropriately , express themselves
in front of others in ways they may not normally receive the opportunity to.
Improvisation, as an art form, has been shown to set up a
safe environment for people of all abilities to undergo self-directed learning
and growth. The benefits to the participates of the YADA Improv Group will
include increased confidence, improved public speaking skills, gained comfort
in social settings, refined brainstorming abilities, improved listening and
observation skills, improved decision-making skills and team development
skills.
Improv sets up a safe and fun environment for a youth with
and without a disability to experience self-directed learning and improve their
self-esteem. Improv has been shown to increase participants personal and school
relationships. Improvi sets up a safe and fun environment for a youth to
