Information and Referral

Information and referral is one of Independence’s most popular and important services. Each consumer is provided with access to a wide range of disability related materials. In addition, consumers receive information or are referred to other agencies that specialize in topics specific to their needs.

Independence provides information and referral on disability benefits, benefits analysis, work incentive programs, and resources on any disability related topic.

Independence’s Resource and Lending Library

The resource library at Independence features a collection of materials that cover a wide-range of issues related to disability.

Independence, Inc. Resource materials include:

• A computer with Internet access
• American with Disabilities Act guides
• Assistive technology for computer use
• Independence disability related website directories
• A television and video machine
• Information on service animals
• Transportation facts and schedules

Consumers, family members, and personal assistances are encouraged to explore the library. Library users must sign-in with the receptionist.

There is no cost for using the library, checking out material, or using the computer or Internet.
